Every other tee in this lineup is named after a wave trying to be famous: Teahupo'o hosts the Olympics, Jaws needs a jet ski, Cloudbreak needs a boat. Paea doesn't want any of that. It's a reef break on Tahiti's west coast, a few minutes from Marae Arahurahu, the island's best-preserved ancient temple, where locals paddle out before work and nobody's filming. On the shirt, that's the lineup cropped into the shape of the island, a tiare flower marking the globe below it: Tahiti's flower, worn behind the ear long before anyone thought to put a wave on a t-shirt.
Roomy without being boxy. The collar sits soft and relaxed, the cotton softens with wear, and the print settles in rather than sitting stiff - built for the coast road out to the point, watching the swell forecast on a slow Tuesday, or the walk down to the water with a board under one arm.

Paea sits on Tahiti's west coast, home to Marae Arahurahu, the island's best-restored ancient temple - once a year during Heiva, dancers in traditional dress reenact the investiture of a Tahitian chief on the same stone platform where it happened centuries ago. The reef break sits just down the road, an everyday wave with Moorea sitting on the horizon and waterfalls cutting through the hills behind it. No contests, no hype, just a quiet lineup and a few boards leaned against a truck. This is the actual place behind the print - someone's ordinary Tuesday morning at Paea, not a stock photo of "somewhere tropical."
